30 Miles Done!

Sunday I finished up my last 6 miles that I needed to reach my 30 mile goal. We met friends the night before at a local bar in my hometown and had a great time. I didn't get to bed until 3 a.m. and woke up at 8. Before too much time was wasted I put on my running shoes and headed out the door. It felt great to run through familiar streets.

I didn't run today and I am not looking forward to running tomorrow. I truly wish that I was one of those people that LOVED running. I wish I craved being out there by myself and sweating my butt off! Instead, it is sometimes a chore and something that I just know I need to do so I can check it off the list.

Hoping to reach around 25 for the week, but would probably settle for 20. That would put me at 50 in the middle of the month and then I will be on track for my 100. Gotta get to a 100!

8 Mile Run

I took off for an 8 mile run this morning with two friends. I knew this was going to be tough because it was hot and the hills were going to be intense. We ran the first two miles and stopped for water and a quick potty break in the woods.

The next two miles were torture! One of my friends called it the " two mile hill" and she wasn't joking a bit. It lasted forever! I watched my friend, that I call the Hill Queen, run up it like it was a bunny slope. I don't know where she gets her drive, but I wish I had that desire to run up a hill like she does.

We stopped at mile 4 to fill up waters and we took off to finish the last half. It was full of rolling hills that didn't take your breath away and that made me happy. Rolling hills are my friend! We encountered a very scary dog, but Hill Queen yelled at him and he quickly ran back to his house.

This route was tough, but I know it was good for me! I really do need to run this route more often that's for sure! I am 20 miles down for the week and I have 10 to go. :)

30 and 100

Since I am not currently training for an event I decided to run a 30 mile week and reach 100 miles this month. I need a goal- a reason for putting my running shoes on everyday! In January, February and March I had 100 mile months and it felt great logging all of those miles. I keep track at mapmyrun.com and I love, love, love entering my runs and seeing my progress! It is very satisfying!

Yesterday, I split my 6 mile run up. I ventured out around 8 a.m. and ran 3. Then, I ran my son to an appointment and accomplished the last 3 at a local park with a track around it. My second set was scorching hot! Knowing that I would be out there for less than 30 minutes allowed me to just get it done.

Today I did a full 6 around 9:30 and again it was hot. After the first 2 miles I knew that I would get the entire run accomplished. I was feeling good and had plenty of water to keep myself hydrated. I usually don't gel for a 6 mile run, but I decided that it couldn't hurt. My music was keeping me entertained and thankfully I was in the groove. I just love when that happens!

At this point I have 12 miles down and 18 to go!
