5K

My family participated in a 5K yesterday and it was a blast! Out of 3 kids only 1 was excited, so I wasn't too sure what the outcome would be. It was a free run at a local pub and we were just there to have a great time.

We took off from the pub in downtown Clarksville with the sun shining. Even though it was extremely cold it was a beautiful day and we had dressed appropriately. Chris encouraged me to take off with my daughter and he decided to stick with the boys. She was excited to be there and wanted to run!

We ran to the water stop, had our numbers marked and turned around to head back. On our way back to the pub I saw my 14 year old son running solo. Let me tell you- this was one of my proudest moments! He doesn't like to run, didn't want to be there and decided to run the race on his own!!! My daughter and I finished in about 31 minutes and then turned around to find my son. He wasn't too far behind us and we ran the rest of his race with him to the finish. I was so excited to share that experience with him because I knew he was proud of himself!

I left my two oldest at the pub and then headed back on the route to find my husband and 5 year old. They were doing great! Chris had one of his hands and I had the other and we ran together to the finish! We had all done it and I was thrilled. We were rewarded with free drinks and the satisfaction that we had done something special! It was tons of fun!
